An Abundant 2010

January 24, 2010 in Body,De-Clutter,Exercise,Finances,Life,Spiritual

From Deona, Your Balance Partner….I have a support team, call them my BFF’s, my prayer warriors, my sister-friends.  They’ve been with me on every step of my journey of becoming the person I am today.  Today, I’d like to share one of them with you.  I’d like to introduce you to Tam.  I’ve asked Tam to be a guest on my blog.  She’s going to share tips on how to live an Abundant 2010.  Enjoy her spiritual perspective and wisdom….

Guest Blogger – Tam….I’m not real sure of blogging dos and don’t or if there is certain blogging etiquette to follow, so forgive me if I manage to break every rule possible.  My name is Tamara Markey and I am a wife and mother of three.  While that introduction in no way captures the essence of my being, I hope it at least reveals that my days and nights are filled with “honey dos” and “mommy can I”.  Most likely not much different from you, I spend each day walking the tight rope to maintain my sanity and order.  I am very grateful to Deona for giving me this opportunity to share my thoughts and the journey that God is blessing me to travel.

So, let me begin by saying, Happy New Year!  By now, you have most likely made the traditional journey of reflecting upon 2009 and established your resolutions, goals and aspirations for 2010.  And if you are like me, this journey did not look much different from your previous year’s progression from one year into the next.  But this year, I found myself questioning why is so much emphasis given to self-evaluation, goal establishment and planning at this particular moment in time?  Is there something prohibiting me from taking personal inventory and making necessary adjustments on a quarterly, monthly or even daily basis?  With further reflection, I realized that God’s timing is not necessarily aligned with our earthly calendar.  The emphasis on self-evaluation that we give to ending one year and beginning another is evaluation and reflection that He desires from us daily.

He wants to give us the desires of our heart and make our plans succeed (Psalm 20:4).  John 15:7 teaches us that if we abide in Him and His word abides in us that we can ask what we will and it will be done for us.  That is why it is so vitally important that we go beyond the time of yearly reflection and the list making to understand how our desires, goals and life resolutions align with the Word of God.

I challenge you to search God’s Word in order to align it with your resolutions just as I have done for some of the “top yearly resolutions” listed below.

  • Quitting a bad habit and Physical Fitness – These goals are directly aligned with 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 which reads, Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?  You are not your own; you were bought at a price.  Therefore, honor God with your body.
  • Enjoy Life – God desires for you to have a full and rich life.  Jesus tells us in John 10:10, the thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy.  I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).
  • Financial Freedom – It is not God’s will for us to live in financial bondage.  Throughout the bible, God gives us this message.  Malachi 3:10 is one of many scriptures that teach us that God is our provider.  The scripture reads, Bring all the tithes (the whole tenth of your income) into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and prove Me now by it, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
  • Get Organized – Confusion, chaos, strife and toil  are not of God.  Psalm 37:23 teach us, the steps of a [good] man are directed and established by the Lord when He delights in his way [and He busies Himself with his every step].
  • Help Others – God has called us all to the important ministry of helping others.  James 1:27 says, External religious worship that is pure and unblemished in the sight of God the Father is this: to visit and help and care for the orphans and widows in their affliction and need…

In our quest to attain personal goals, let’s seek God daily and acknowledge Him in all our ways.  He is the source of our strength to truly achieving the abundant life that we all so desire.

Be Blessed,

Tam

Amen! Psalm 20:4 is the scripture that I sign with my initials when I autograph my books for people. God wants us to live in abundance, if we would only pause long enough to let him guide us. Great words of wisdom and scripture references, Tam!
